Philip Chao - Photographer
Hello, I am Philip Chao, a passionate black-and-white photographer. My journey into the world of photography began with a fascination for the play of light and shadows, which I view as an organic and unpredictable form of beauty.
In my perspective, light and shadow possess a certain allure that objects often lack. They are uncontrollable, uncontainable, insubordinate, and impervious to manipulation. Light and shadow represent nature in its most unadulterated form. They dance in synchrony or discord, creating narratives that are fluid, changing, and deeply captivating. This core fascination guides my work, instilling each of my pieces with a sense of depth and emotion.
The name of my website, 'EyesofPC', represents my belief that every individual perceives the world in unique ways. As a photographer, I view my camera as an extension of my eyes, a tool that allows me to capture and share my unique interpretation of the world. My hope is that through my photography, you'll gain insight into how I perceive the world, and perhaps see things from a different perspective.
In my black-and-white photography, the world unfolds in stark contrast and deep mystery, reflecting an ephemeral dance of light and shadow. Each image captures a fleeting moment, revealing stories that engage the viewer in an intriguing narrative.
My photos radiate a melancholic beauty that resonates in the grayscale spectrum. Unpredictable and uncontrollable, much like the nature of light and shadow themselves, they encourage viewers to find their own interpretation.
In essence, my work is an exploration of perception, a unique view of the world translated through my lens. I invite you to find your own meaning within the monochrome.
